ABOUT
I am a saxophonist and composer (and dog lover!) from Melbourne, Australia. I have led my own bands for over 25 years and have recently released my fifth album The Offering. Music is a passion that has driven my direction in life!
In late 2019 I returned from living in New York for two years where I completed a Masters in Music in Jazz Studies at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.
Over the years I’ve played with some American greats including Arthur Blythe, Odean Pope, Wycliffe Gordon and Maceo Parker in a performance at the 2018 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
I performed for 13 years with The Bamboos, recording nine albums and many spin-off projects.
I have studied saxophone with Dave Liebman, Chris Potter, George Garzone, Antonio Hart, Tim Armacost, Rich Perry, Joel Frahm and Dayna Stephens. And studied harmony with David Berkman and composition and arranging with Dennis Mackrel and Michael Philip Mossman.
I hold a BA in Improvisation from the Victorian College of the Arts, a BA Honours in Multimedia Design from Swinburne University and a Masters in Music from Queens College NYC. I have taught music in various settings for many years and in 2018-19 was a mentor educator at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona, Queens.
Currently I lecture in music and tutor saxophone at the Australian College of the Arts (Collarts) and tutor saxophone and lead ensembles at Scotch College Melbourne.
I am a very proud D’Addario Woodwinds Artist and endorse Syos mouthpieces.
