The Offering features music bursting with power, groove and passion and takes the listener on a ride from the rural Australian town of Delecca’s birth to the gritty subways of New York City. It is the sister album to his award winning 2013 release ‘The Healer’ and represents the artistic culmination of his experiences living in NY from 2017-19.
Recorded over two freezing days in Brooklyn Dec 2019, the playlist consists of seven original compositions from Delecca along with ‘Barbara’ by the great Horace Silver and Hoagy Carmichael’s classic ballad ‘Skylark’.
The album boasts a stellar group of young New York musicians: Caili O’Doherty - piano, Cory Cox - drums, and guest on three tracks, Blue Note artist Immanuel Wilkins - alto saxophone. Also featured is virtuoso bassist Matt Clohesy, originally from Melbourne and long term fixture on the NY scene. The album brings together a diverse group of Australian and US musicians to make a powerful, cohesive musical offering!
Album launch was held on Thursday Nov 18th 2021 at The JazzLab, Melbourne and was a fantastic night! Check out some highlights here:
